LOCAL AM BACKS THE FIGHT AGAINST BREAST CANCER

Aberavon AM, David Rees, is backing the fight against breast cancer by taking part in Breast Cancer Campaign’s award winning fundraiser, Wear It Pink- and wants people in Aberavon to join him.
Now in its 10th year, Wear It Pink, taking place on Friday 26th October, will see supporters from all over the country in schools, colleges and businesses embracing the event’s new theme, superheroes. The theme stems from the charity’s belief that everybody who joins the campaign- from people affected by breast cancer, to Breast Cancer Research scientists and all Wear It Pink participants- is a superhero.
Breast Cancer Campaign is asking everyone to put on something pink and donate £2.00. This money will go towards the charity’s target of £2 million that will contribute to ground breaking research.

David Rees AM said:

“Last year hundreds of thousands people took part in Wear It Pink to help improve survival rates for the one in eight women who experience breast cancer during their lifetime and I’m delighted to be involved.”

“Breast cancer is the most common cancer in Wales and accounts for nearly a third of all cancers amongst Welsh women. I know others who have lost family members and friends to the disease and would like to encourage everyone in Aberavon, and throughout the country, to support Wear It Pink on October 26 to raise valuable funds for breast cancer research.”

“If anyone would like to organise their own ‘Wear it Pink’ day or would like to get involved in fundraising, just go to the ‘Wear it Pink’ website at www.wearitpink.co.uk.”
