My Office has been contacted by Wales & West Utilities to advise us of a problem with the Gas Supply to the homes & businesses in Bryn.
“Interruption to gas supplies – 23rd February 2015 – 12.00 update
The gas supply has been interrupted to approximately 400 properties in the Bryn area of Neath Port Talbot, due to water getting into our gas network.
We are investigating how the water has got into our network, and our engineers are currently working to remove it – which is a complex task. We are as yet unable to let people know how long this work will take, but we will keep the community updated throughout the day.
We have engineers going door to door to make sure that gas supplies to properties affected are turned off. When this is complete, and the water has been removed, we will be able to start work on restoring supplies to the affected properties. Our engineers will then visit each property to safely turn their gas supplies back on.
The affected postcodes are:

We are working as quickly and as safely as we can and will be monitoring the situation throughout the day. We will be offering vulnerable customers alternative cooking and heating facilities.

I sympathise with the community of Bryn and hope that the issues are dealt with swiftly.
