117 people will have new job opportunities through the Jobs Growth Wales scheme in Neath Port Talbot, David Rees AM has revealed.
Figures provided by the Welsh Government show in total 1838 have been filled across Wales with 4277 opportunities being approved.
As well as creating job opportunities for unemployed young people, the posts created by Jobs Growth Wales are additional to the workforce and therefore helping Welsh businesses to expand. Participants are paid at or above the National Minimum Wage for a minimum of 25 hours per week.
David Rees AM said:
“Not only has this scheme created opportunities for unemployed young people, who have suffered more than most in the recession, but these posts have also helped Welsh businesses to grow.”
“I’m delighted that jobseekers in Neath Port Talbot are successfully finding work through the Jobs Growth Wales programme. As we all know, finding the right job can give you independence, self-belief and the opportunity to fulfil your potential. Young people in Neath Port Talbot are bursting with talent, but they need opportunities, such as this, to help them make that initial step onto the career ladder.
“The creation of this initiative was one of Labour’s key pledges at last year’s Assembly election and I’m delighted that the initiative is now delivering for people.”
